My Second Pregnancy Week by Week

Week 4: Found out I was pregnant! Walking, indoor cycling on my bike trainer, strength training, and swimming.

Week 5: Walking, strength training, Pilates, and swimming.

Weeks 6–10: Nausea hit. I walked when I felt up to it, rested more, and lost about 5 lbs during this period.

Week 11: Strengthening exercises and walking. I was very sore after getting back into more strength work.

Week 12: Indoor cycling on my bike trainer, strength training, walking, and barre.

Week 13: Walking, indoor cycling on my bike trainer, strength training, and swimming.

Week 14: Walking, strength training, indoor cycling on my bike trainer, plus a prenatal massage.

Week 15: Swimming, walking, strength training, and yoga.

Week 16: Strength training, walking, indoor cycling on my bike trainer, yoga, and swimming.

Week 17: Walking, swimming, strength training, and yoga.

Week 18: Walking, strength (added 2lb ankle and wrist weights — use caution in pregnancy), indoor cycling on my bike trainer, and Barre fitness (modifications required).

Week 19: Prenatal massage, walking, strength training, 35 minutes of 4 min walk/1 min run intervals, swimming, yoga, rest day, and 4 mile walk/jog.

Week 20: Restorative yoga, 35 minutes of 4 min walk/1 min run intervals, barre fitness, rest day, 40 minutes of 1-2 min jog / 4-5 min walk intervals, walking outdoors, and a 5 mile walk/jog (4 min at 3-4 mph / 1-2 min at 5.5-6 mph on repeat).

Week 21: Prenatal massage, yoga, strength training, 40 min walk/jog (2.4 miles), 40 min walk/jog (2.58 miles), 6 mile walk/jog (1 hr 45 min), and a 1.93 mile swim.

Week 22: Rest day, 1.9 mile swim, 45 min walk/jog with jogging stroller and toddler (slower than usual because of sciatica pain), rest day, 40 min walk/jog with stroller and toddler (faster than usual and no pain), mobility, stretching, yoga, and walking.

Week 23: 7 mile walk/jog and mobility.

This is my personal pregnancy fitness log, not an exercise prescription. My fitness level and many of these activities were established before pregnancy. Every pregnancy is different, so talk with your healthcare provider about exercise that's appropriate for you.
